SCHOLARSHIPS
We encourage all students to apply to external scholarships, such as the following:
APPLYING TO THE FIELD SCHOOL
We are seeking applicants for the sixth season of excavation at the Bronze Age/Iron Age site of Castelo and our first season of excavation at the Bronze Age site of Martes, located in the Alentejo region of Portugal. We are looking for a fairly small team, so apply early! Feel free to contact us for additional information.
Students are responsible for their own travel/medical insurance and plane tickets to and from Lisbon. |
Prior experience in archaeology is not required - students of all backgrounds (and any others interested) are encouraged to apply. This field school will train students in archaeological methods, such as excavation techniques, recording, illustration, and the handling and processing of artifacts. Visit our Field School page for additional information on the program and life on the project.
Course credit is not offered for this field school. However, we are happy to sign any forms you may need to get academic credit through your university, though we ask that you discuss this with us prior to the start of the project. We are also happy to help you fill out your UK or AUS archaeology passport. |
Please note the following:
Once accepted, students will be asked to fill out a number of forms and pay the deposit, which counts toward their tuition payment. The funding for this project comes from student tuition. All payments made to the Castelo Archaeological Project go directly toward room and board for the crew, field trips, site and artifact conservation, and funding for specialist analyses. This project is not affiliated with the universities of the listed staff and attending students.
